The Kennedys at Ivory Coast State Dinner Performance

In this photograph President John F. Kennedy speaks to guests at a performance of "Billy the Kid" by the American Ballet Theatre in the East Room of the White House on May 22, 1962. The ballet was the entertainment at the State Dinner held in honor of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny of the Ivory Coast. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, President Houphouët-Boigny, First Lady Marie-Thérèse Houphouët-Boigny of the Ivory Coast, and Aaron Copland, composer of the ballet, are also pictured.
